Ross McCrorie earned his second Scotland cap in a 1-0 friendly loss to Ivory Coast in March Ross McCrorie is reuniting with manager Derek McInnes and returning to Rangers after Bristol City accepted an undisclosed offer from the Ibrox club. The 28-year-old defender has agreed a three-year deal, with the option of a further year. He began his career in the Rangers academy, making his debut in September 2017 and featuring in more than 50 games before spending three seasons at Aberdeen under McInnes. "It is a dream come true to come back up the road to the team I support," McCrorie told Rangers' media. "I am not that little kid who was at Rangers back in the day. I have changed a lot character-wise and player-wise. "I feel like I am ready now and I want to come back here and win trophies." In May, the Championship side took up the option to extend his terms by a year. Capped twice for Scotland and included in the squad for Euro 2024, McCrorie played regularly at right-back for City but can operate across the defence and has been used as a midfielder, his predominant position in his first Rangers spell. And McCrorie has been given the number two jersey vacated by long-serving captain James Tavernier, who has moved on after 11 years at the club. "Ross is someone I signed for Aberdeen from Rangers, and at that time he wanted to go out and prove himself, which I think says a lot for him," said McInnes, who joined from Hearts last week, of his first Rangers signing. "He has developed and improved as a player, he has got that added experience, he is a full international now and he knows the club inside out. "In the conversations I have had with him, a lot of things I am saying are things he wants from the club as well, so he's a determined and competitive boy on the pitch, and he is determined to bring good times back to the club." McCrorie is McInnes's first signing and will join fellow Scotland international Lawrence Shankland at Rangers this summer, with the striker currently at the World Cup.
